Dr. Rebecca Williamson Brown

Dr. Brown is a respected member of the Ohio optometric community.  She has practiced in the tri-county area for over a decade and has held several leadership positions in her profession.  Currently Dr. Brown is serving as the Immediate Past President of the Ohio Optometric Association.  She is also a former Ohio Optometric Association Zone Governor.  In 2009 she was named as Ohio’s Young Optometrist of the year and Key Optometrist of the Year in 2008.

In the optometric field, Dr. Brown volunteers for InfantSEE (www.infantsee.org), Sight for All United,  and Real Eyes Save Our Sight Classroom Initiative.

The staff of Essential Vision Care is excited to work with an eye doctor that brings a wealth of experience to Salem as well as a strong academic background.  Dr. Brown completed her residency through The Ohio State University at the Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center in hospital based optometry.  She received her doctorate of optometry from the Southern College of Optometry and was awarded a B.S. from John Carroll University where she majored in biology.  She is also a 1994 graduate of Salem Senior High School.

Dr. Brown is an active member of the Salem community.  She has recently served as president of the St. Paul Home and School Association.  Her other activities also include membership in Kiwanis, the Salem Junior Mothers’ Club, and The Dustin Huffman Memorial Scholarship Board.  In 2008, Dr. Brown was a Mahoning Valley Young Professionals “Top 40 Under 40” honoree.  She resides in Salem with her husband, Craig, and two sons, Aaron and Jack.

Christine, Optical Manager

Christine joined Essential Vision Care in February 2015.  She manages the optical department.  Her duties include patient frame and lens selection, eye wear dispensing, adjustments, and repairs. She has been in the eye care industry since 2002.  She is highly knowledgeable in all aspects of frame and lens fitting and will ensure you leave the office with superior visual comfort and style.

Leisha, Optometric Technician

Leisha has been with Essential Vision Care since May 2016.  Her main role is to assist   Dr. Brown with patient care and contact lenses.  Assisting in some of the technical duties required for patient care, she prepares patients for their eye examination and is responsible for some of the special testing required for advanced ocular disease management.  Leisha has been in the healthcare industry for over 8 years.

Shawna, Optometric Front Office Coordinator

Shawna has been with Essential Vision Care since 2017. Shawna’s primary responsibilites include patient accounts, correspondence, and scheduling.  Shawna will always be ready to greet you with a smile and ensure your time at Essential Vision Care runs smoothly.
